The Breakers organization was founded in 1992 with just a single team by Charlie Harris. His goal was to provide the many talented young women in his area the opportunity to compete in Junior Olympic Fastpitch Softball. In 2012 we celebrate the Twentieth season of Charlie's vision become reality as we host five teams, comprised of 60 athletes spanning four age divisions.
In 2008 our 14u Gold and 18u team attended ASA Eastern Nationals in Salem, VA. Our 18u, coached by Ed Burgess, finished in 17th place. That was the highest of any Ohio team in attendance. Our 14u Gold also finished in 17th place after being eliminated by the eventual tournament champion Miami Valley Express. In 2009 our 18u attended ASA Eastern Nationals in York, PA. Several of our other teams qualified for ASA Eastern Nationals and chose not to attend due to the poor economy. 2010 saw three of the Breakers teams attending ASA Eastern Nationals, the 14u Wennerberg team went to Laplatta, MD; the 16u to York, PA; and the 18u to Dayton, OH.
Over the past twenty years the game of Fastpitch Softball has continued to evolve into what it is today. The Breakers have continued to evolve with the game, constantly learning better ways to provide the best program we can. We strive to keep our fees as low as possible while offering a first class opportunity. To do this, we rely on fundraisers and corporate sponsors to help us meet our financial needs. The Breakers operate as a registered 501c3 (IRS) organization, this allows for certain tax incentives to those that support our efforts through their generosity.
